Congrats on topic authorship, roo. This is the best thing to happen here since the nipples coup.

One of the many things that irritates me: radio DJ's who talk over the beginning and/or ending of the song. They have NO respect for music if they think that the first 8 bars of a song are for their inane commentary. If they cannot speak without music cueing up behind them, they're too incompetant to have their own radio show.

I kicked over a glass that had been standing on the floor by my bed when I went to go to the bathroom and it was so cold that I am wide awake right now! Shammy has a dress code, very flexible except for a few commandments: Men -- Please, NEVER WEAR the following items!!! Levi's Dockers Button-down shirts Capezio Jazz shoes Anything that's about its own brand (i.e. Hilfiger, RL, FILA, NIKE, etc.) Polo shirts Navy blue blazers w/ brass buttons (not only should you not wear these, you should actively throw out -- no, burn! -- these Class rings or "school rings" of the Jostens variety Jean shirts, unless flannel-lined & you are a lumberjack

There's a wonderful book about men & fashion that's part style humor & also excellently practical, but a guy named Hal Rubinstein. It's called PAISLEY GOES WITH NOTHING. Worth checking out, definitely. That is, if this guide wasn't thorough enough or seems too negative.

My hubby does all of the above except the Capezio jazz shoes (not since 1988) and the class ring. Of course, he's a truly fashion incompetant. He actually looks good in the blue blazer, or the dockers with a button down shirt, or any of the others. He could also pass for a lumberjack on many occasions. To be honest, I really don't care what he wears, as long as it's clean. It's SO unimportant that I don't think about it at all.

Irritating: Country Music I take that back, sort of. A few years ago I had the good fortune of seeing a guitar player named Danny Gatton in a small club here. Gatton played a mishmash of country, rockabilly, and 50's rock. He played the hell out of a vintage Fender Telecaster that my brother said must be worth thousands, something about the way the pickups were made made each Telecaster sound unique. Anyway, Danny Gatton had just made the cover of Guitar Player magazine so the bar was packed with every guitar player in every Heavy Metal band in the city. One show I'll never forget. I mean that guy could really play, and we were like three tables away from the stage.

From the interview in Guitar Player, you gathered that a major record deal was right around the corner for Danny Gatton. Sadly, that never happened. Danny Gatton shot himself a couple of years later.

I'm excited! I hooked up with a Soprano sax player, who goes by the name "K-Swift", and he's gonna start accompanying me when I DJ!!!! I'm hoping we can pretty much incorporate all styles of jazz and beyond into our performances, from the free jazz of Charles Gayle, to the more modern styles of Herbie hancock.
