Being #1 is NOT irritating at all!

[2] kanga-roo Fri Oct 10 11:51:14 EDT 1997
[bouncing, hopping, leaping, and bounding] This is my topic suggestion! I just want to hear everyone bitch for a week.

[3] kanga-roo Fri Oct 10 11:52:29 EDT 1997
Actually it was "Things that piss me off." Seems I've been edited. Damn that's irritating!

[4] kanga-roo Fri Oct 10 11:55:10 EDT 1997
Irritating: People who exceed the limit in the express lane at the grocery store. If it were up to me, I'd make it a crime punishable by lethal injection.

[5] propertius Fri Oct 10 12:40:36 EDT 1997
Nothing.

[6] Reesa Fri Oct 10 13:28:47 EDT 1997
Congrats on topic authorship, roo. This is the best thing to happen here since the nipples coup. One of the many things that irritates me: radio DJ's who talk over the beginning and/or ending of the song. They have NO respect for music if they think that the first 8 bars of a song are for their inane commentary. If they cannot speak without music cueing up behind them, they're too incompetant to have their own radio show.

[7] dashiell Fri Oct 10 14:07:10 EDT 1997
i might have to handle this topic on a day to day basis.today it's only having twenty four hours in it.
All grasshoppers are irritated by ONE THING this time of year - All those fanatical squirrels running around doing the nut gathering thing and stepping all over my 'DO IT LATER' bliss.

[8] cataclyzm Fri Oct 10 14:50:20 EDT 1997
Thing's that upset cat very much:

[9] kanga-roo Fri Oct 10 16:50:59 EDT 1997
R.E.M. and new Aerosmith. The Onion did a good piece on Aerosmith that had the fans calling for the band to please please go back on drugs so they would once again put out some rockin' tunes.

[10] kanga-roo Fri Oct 10 16:56:54 EDT 1997
Infomercials. How many people in the United States actually want to dehydrate their own food? Are there really any jerky fans? Letterman had the Ronco guy on his show once and the guy pulls out Mr. Microphone--Hey good looking, be back for you later!--and the damn thing starts getting all this feedback and making all kinds of distortion. Dave says, "Oh, sorry about that. Must be that cheap RCA equipment we're using."

[11] kanga-roo Fri Oct 10 17:07:56 EDT 1997
And who is that lantern-jawed motivational speaker? God I'd like to pull a Marathon Man on him and have all those teeth--and he certainly does seem to have an overabundance of them--of his extracted. Then I'd have his vocal cords cut.

[12] artgirl Fri Oct 10 17:59:01 EDT 1997
assholes, bitches and whiners

[13] cataclyzm Fri Oct 10 18:56:23 EDT 1997
12 - yee-uh!

[14] grneyz Fri Oct 10 18:56:42 EDT 1997
Not being able to post regularly.

[15] cataclyzm Fri Oct 10 19:01:30 EDT 1997
Yeah. Sucks don't it? how've you been, G.?

[16] cataclyzm Fri Oct 10 19:07:30 EDT 1997
More things that upset cat very much:

[17] grneyz Fri Oct 10 19:12:02 EDT 1997
I've got a cold, but I'm okay. Being sick is irritating, especially right now. grrrrr.

[18] cataclyzm Fri Oct 10 19:18:43 EDT 1997
Jeez, i'm sorry! Are you missing classes and all that? or are you roughing through it?

[19] grneyz Fri Oct 10 19:20:44 EDT 1997
Missed one class, and one shift of work. Am at work now, suffering bravely.

[20] cataclyzm Fri Oct 10 19:21:58 EDT 1997
what do you do?

[21] grneyz Fri Oct 10 19:22:43 EDT 1997
1. Alanis Morrisette

[22] grneyz Fri Oct 10 19:24:49 EDT 1997
I work in the interlibrary loan department of the UCLA Science & Engineering Library. Funny thing for an actress, no?

[23] cataclyzm Fri Oct 10 19:25:14 EDT 1997
Alanis Morrisette can sing. But I guess most of the she never chooses to, opting for her pitiful, whiney, I-hate-men vocalizations.

[24] grneyz Fri Oct 10 19:26:21 EDT 1997
Another irritating thing: Wasted Talent.

[25] cataclyzm Fri Oct 10 19:27:40 EDT 1997
hmm... that is a bit odd. i'm interviewing with the people down in the multimedia dept. next week with only my few years experience in audio technology, my being part of a multimedia collective here in SLO, and my "charming" personality to get me through.

[26] grneyz Fri Oct 10 19:30:08 EDT 1997
gotta go, cat. work is piled up past my clogged sinuses. later.

[27] cataclyzm Fri Oct 10 19:30:43 EDT 1997
24 - Prime example: (sorry to bring them up again) The spice girls can actually sing as well, but if I could just get my hands around their producer's neck...... Seriously, put me in a studio with 'em and i swear I'll be pumping out prime material.

[28] cataclyzm Fri Oct 10 19:31:11 EDT 1997
Later, Gee!

[29] kanga-roo Fri Oct 10 19:39:48 EDT 1997
Getting ready to set the NT server network up here.

[30] Reesa Fri Oct 10 19:40:45 EDT 1997
Something that irritates me about Alanis M. and the Spice Girls: I can sing ALL of them off a stage, but I ain't famous or rich.

[31] kanga-roo Fri Oct 10 20:51:48 EDT 1997
Irritating: Trying to set up NT server.

[32] shamrock Fri Oct 10 21:49:05 EDT 1997
Irritating: Getting to the Inn & missing all my favorite people (everyone... *smak!*)Buying an album w/ 2 good songs that you heard on the radio & realizing the rest of the LP is the aural equivalent of styrofoam peanuts.
"They're actually gonna go with a model, but they thought you were amazing".

[33] shamrock Sat Oct 11 06:08:23 EDT 1997
It's 6AM and I woke up to a low-rent version of Martha Stewart's Living humming from the television. I kicked over a glass that had been standing on the floor by my bed when I went to go to the bathroom and it was so cold that I am wide awake right now!I suppose if I hadn't left the Inn up on my screen when I conked out then no one would even be reading this, but -- hope you enjoy it all the same.
'Dja get that netwotk installed?

[34] shamrock Sat Oct 11 06:21:22 EDT 1997
congrats on your ass-kickin' interview, by the way.

[35] kanga-roo Sat Oct 11 06:24:41 EDT 1997
Thank you, thank you.Installing NT server's going to be an all weekend deal.

[36] shamrock Sat Oct 11 06:26:01 EDT 1997
Reesa: You sing? actually, in a certain way that does not surprise me. I have known only a few true singers (opera people, etc.) and in real life they all talk quietly. Saving their voices, I suppose. Either that or they're expressing themselves most purely through their music.

[37] shamrock Sat Oct 11 06:28:42 EDT 1997
I CANNOT BELIEVE YOU'RE ON! I almost hesitate to ask this, but what does installing an NT server network entail? (hope this doesn't mean you're gonna go away for a long time -- ah well, be succinct, be extravagant in your specificity, tell me whatever I need to know -- please.)

[38] shamrock Sat Oct 11 06:29:25 EDT 1997

[39] kanga-roo Sat Oct 11 06:30:07 EDT 1997
Best lead singer, hands down: Geoff Tate of Queensrÿche

[40] kanga-roo Sat Oct 11 06:30:53 EDT 1997
Yes, special characters!

[41] kanga-roo Sat Oct 11 06:31:52 EDT 1997
I'm going to the Stream, meet me there.

[42] shamrock Sat Oct 11 06:32:47 EDT 1997
[39]: (no response to that, but I would disagree on principle anyway)See ya in the stream.

[43] kanga-roo Sat Oct 11 07:24:46 EDT 1997
SPAM!

[44] shamrock Sat Oct 11 10:03:52 EDT 1997
What exactly IS "spam"? Net people & computer people mention it all the time & I haven't the faintest idea what it's all about. Is that like junk advertisements? But that's "cookies", right? But a cookie is not necessarily an ad, right?

[45] Val! Sat Oct 11 10:09:33 EDT 1997
Shammy?

[46] Val! Sat Oct 11 10:10:09 EDT 1997
....whadda mean Shammy has bite? Shammy?

[47] Val! Sat Oct 11 10:11:02 EDT 1997
..just got home from Friday night. Sheesh. I spent the night w/ five women. Just me. Deliciously outnumbered.

[48] Val! Sat Oct 11 10:11:57 EDT 1997
...mostly platonic though. mostlyhe he

[49] Val! Sat Oct 11 10:12:19 EDT 1997
...except for the tickle fight!

[50] Val! Sat Oct 11 10:12:48 EDT 1997
...but I started it.

[51] Val! Sat Oct 11 10:14:50 EDT 1997

Val!s advice for the rest of the year: (and this is MONEY):
Giver shit!, but take er easy.
(that's pure gold babies)

[52] Val! Sat Oct 11 10:43:19 EDT 1997
My List: (part 1)
1) Small talk
2) Dress Codes
3) Propriety
4) Wayan's Brothers
5) Radio

[53] shamrock Sat Oct 11 12:07:32 EDT 1997
Shammy has a dress code, very flexible except for a few commandments:Men -- Please, NEVER WEAR the following items!!!
Levi's Dockers
Button-down shirts
Capezio Jazz shoes
Anything that's about its own brand (i.e. Hilfiger, RL, FILA, NIKE, etc.)
Polo shirts
Navy blue blazers w/ brass buttons (not only should you not wear these, you should actively throw out -- no, burn! -- these
Class rings or "school rings" of the Jostens variety
Jean shirts, unless flannel-lined & you are a lumberjack
There's a wonderful book about men & fashion that's part style humor & also excellently practical, but a guy named Hal Rubinstein. It's called PAISLEY GOES WITH NOTHING. Worth checking out, definitely. That is, if this guide wasn't thorough enough or seems too negative.

[54] Val! Sat Oct 11 12:23:51 EDT 1997
Hmmm. I've been guilty of 2. But dammint! I've made up for my lack of good taste w/ indifference to fashion.I only wear white after labour day. I match green and blue and orange.

[55] Val! Sat Oct 11 12:24:58 EDT 1997
...oops I'm late....

[56] A2 Sat Oct 11 12:33:57 EDT 1997
[53] button down shirts. i plead guilty.

[57] Reesa Sat Oct 11 12:46:59 EDT 1997
My hubby does all of the above except the Capezio jazz shoes (not since 1988) and the class ring. Of course, he's a truly fashion incompetant. He actually looks good in the blue blazer, or the dockers with a button down shirt, or any of the others. He could also pass for a lumberjack on many occasions. To be honest, I really don't care what he wears, as long as it's clean. It's SO unimportant that I don't think about it at all.

[58] kanga-roo Sat Oct 11 13:04:55 EDT 1997
I ALWAYS wear a button-down shirt with a suit. The others look like shit.

[59] shamrock Sat Oct 11 13:17:20 EDT 1997
I'm just saying, those are MY opinions. You are welcome not to share them, though I wish you would. heheheIncidentally, Val! (and I just emailed you back), I love blue & orange together. And I've never subscribed to the white/Labor Day rule, for men OR for women. Hi all. Missed you so.

[60] shamrock Sat Oct 11 13:21:24 EDT 1997
Anybody still there? I'll check back in a few.

[61] Val! Sat Oct 11 16:06:06 EDT 1997
...Anyone 'round. Got your mail Shams. Replied. Hello Georgia?

[62] Val! Sat Oct 11 16:06:52 EDT 1997
..."woman is the devil. I been told. Take all your money. Up the hill she goes."

..."Rock me baby. Rock me all night. Rock me like my back aint got no bone."

[66] Val! Sat Oct 11 16:12:05 EDT 1997
I saw my future today in a passing bus.

[67] Val! Sat Oct 11 16:13:19 EDT 1997
...so quiet on the western front today. I guess I'll pretend to do something else for a while.

[68] Val! Sat Oct 11 16:25:17 EDT 1997
lotsa trouble, lotsa blues, whole lotta nothin and nothin to lose.

[69] Val! Sat Oct 11 16:29:26 EDT 1997
I fell asleep in the light of the full moon one night and when I woke up it was the face of my mother looking down at me. Now what do you think about that? What do you think it means?

[70] Val! Sat Oct 11 16:30:37 EDT 1997
...meeting you at your parent's gate.... will tell you what you have to do to survive.... stop the car. I'm gettin' out. I can't take this anymore.

[71] Val! Sat Oct 11 16:31:48 EDT 1997
Und sie mit mir zugrunde gehn!(let us both embrace perdition)

[72] shamrock Sat Oct 11 18:35:30 EDT 1997
I'm on. Anybody? Lurkers, come out.I wonder what I'm gonna do tonight.

[73] kanga-roo Sat Oct 11 18:53:01 EDT 1997
Spam is unwanted email--usually touting pyramid schemes--and inappropriate posts to newsgroups. If you really want to know what Spam is, well I got some Spam for Sham.

[74] shamrock Sat Oct 11 19:01:30 EDT 1997
Does that make it Shpam? I got it. Eek! I've never gotten it before. Now, coming from minnesota, I've eaten plenty a SPAM in my day, but nevr ingested anything as strange as what you sent me.

[75] Val! Sat Oct 11 19:03:41 EDT 1997
...ooh. love to talk. people comig over soon. must hide the bodies...

[76] Val! Sat Oct 11 19:04:12 EDT 1997
ta nuck!

[77] shamrock Sat Oct 11 19:05:23 EDT 1997
What? Val, you are bugging out. I'm so glad you're here.

[78] shamrock Sat Oct 11 19:06:11 EDT 1997
Ta nuck?

[79] shamrock Sat Oct 11 19:24:41 EDT 1997
Hello.

[80] kanga-roo Sat Oct 11 19:27:43 EDT 1997

[81] kanga-roo Sat Oct 11 20:21:53 EDT 1997
Whose version of "Rock Me Baby" were you listening to, Val?

[82] kanga-roo Sat Oct 11 20:23:19 EDT 1997
Irritating: People who put the toilet paper roll on so it hangs down from the bottom instead of over the top.

[83] kanga-roo Sat Oct 11 20:24:05 EDT 1997
More irritating: People who don't even bother to change the fucking roll.

[84] kanga-roo Sat Oct 11 20:26:07 EDT 1997
I'm surprised no one has posted how irritating it is to post at the Inn. Of course, I no longer have this problem. Ha!

[85] kanga-roo Sat Oct 11 23:08:04 EDT 1997
Lurkers who stay lurkers because they're too afraid to post.

[86] Val! Sun Oct 12 00:31:28 EDT 1997
...Rock me baby, the Doors version from a bootlegh UK CD called "Black Angel's Death Song"

[87] al'Thor Sun Oct 12 01:38:50 EDT 1997
[53] Not guilty of any of these. I used to wear Nikes...about 12 years ago. Other than that I'm clean.

[88] kanga-roo Sun Oct 12 02:37:51 EDT 1997
Never heard the Doors do it. I like Robin Trowers version.

[89] kanga-roo Sun Oct 12 02:56:33 EDT 1997
Nobody home [sigh].

[90] Laki Sun Oct 12 05:18:50 EDT 1997
I pretty much agree with shammy on the fashion front. Esp. on the blue blazer thing. Not that I'm saying your hubby wouldn't look good in one reesa. Just that I don't like what they do to me.

[91] shamrock Sun Oct 12 08:30:20 EDT 1997
Hey, Laki. You're putting in a lot of time lately! Truly heartening. Oh, wait, you posted at 5AM. I guess maybe we WON'T be chatting after all.

[92] kanga-roo Sun Oct 12 09:19:15 EDT 1997
Irritating: Country MusicI take that back, sort of. A few years ago I had the good fortune of seeing a guitar player named Danny Gatton in a small club here. Gatton played a mishmash of country, rockabilly, and 50's rock. He played the hell out of a vintage Fender Telecaster that my brother said must be worth thousands, something about the way the pickups were made made each Telecaster sound unique. Anyway, Danny Gatton had just made the cover of Guitar Player magazine so the bar was packed with every guitar player in every Heavy Metal band in the city. One show I'll never forget. I mean that guy could really play, and we were like three tables away from the stage.
From the interview in Guitar Player, you gathered that a major record deal was right around the corner for Danny Gatton. Sadly, that never happened. Danny Gatton shot himself a couple of years later.

[93] shamrock Sun Oct 12 09:52:52 EDT 1997
Tolerable Country:Patsy Cline (but do yourself a favor and never stay past 2 AM at a party where there are a lot of actresses 'cause inevitably they will all get drunk & start singing PC & really FEELING IT)
That is all I can think of.

[94] kanga-roo Sun Oct 12 10:21:08 EDT 1997
She was as much a blues singer as she was anything.

[95] Val! Sun Oct 12 10:35:05 EDT 1997
...tried to get a hold of you last night Shammy. I think I left a message on your machine, but I don't quite remember. Was is bad?

[96] shamrock Sun Oct 12 11:28:09 EDT 1997
It sounded kinda drunk, and somewhat reserved and awkward. But very simple, more than any of these other qualities. Wait, I'll re-play it. Hold on."Hey, Colleen, it's {Val!}. It's, what the fuck night is it... Saturday-Sunday!-Saturday night, 'bout 12:30. If you get home in the next little bit, gimme a call, I'm at home. Bye."

[97] Reesa Sun Oct 12 12:07:42 EDT 1997
More irritating stuff: finding that someone has dinged the side of my car AGAIN in the parking lot at work. It's always a white vehicle, judging from the paint left on my non-white car. When I find the jerk that's behind this, I'm giving them a bill for the body work I now need to have done.

[98] shamrock Sun Oct 12 12:27:50 EDT 1997
Hey, Reesa! sorry 'bout your car. Next white car you finds in the lot: do a little key-calligraphy... how ya doing? how ya feeling?

[99] Val! Sun Oct 12 14:54:29 EDT 1997
...thanks for the replay Shammy. That's me alright. Now I remember.

[100] kanga-roo Sun Oct 12 17:03:24 EDT 1997
Irritating: This fucking coaster that keeps sticking to the bottom of my beer glass every time I pick it up.

[101] shamrock Sun Oct 12 17:14:05 EDT 1997
Hey! still on? my suggestion: use a different coaster.

[102] shamrock Sun Oct 12 17:29:49 EDT 1997
Irritating: Scrolling the first THIRTY topics of the Inn Archives & wishing the following people were still around to post: Andy Havoc, maura&anita, meara, prime8, LewieWillie, etc., etc., etc.

[103] Neil Sun Oct 12 17:32:42 EDT 1997
Irritating: People who won't lick my genitals, but who would gladly lick Neil Young's.

[104] shamrock Sun Oct 12 17:33:56 EDT 1997
Ay! Relax, Neil!

[105] Neil Sun Oct 12 17:34:30 EDT 1997
Wait! There's someone here who says she'll lick my genitals! The Young drag worked again.

[106] shamrock Sun Oct 12 17:42:25 EDT 1997
How did you know I was a girl?

[107] shamrock Sun Oct 12 17:48:35 EDT 1997
Hoodwinked by a pervert. Me, not Neil.

[108] kanga-roo Sun Oct 12 18:13:30 EDT 1997
Neil, no one can lick your genitals because nobody can find them.

[109] cataclyzm Sun Oct 12 18:26:22 EDT 1997
Shammy, if you were to wear a button down shirt, unbuttoned, with a T-shirt on under it, would that still count as a no-no?

[110] cataclyzm Sun Oct 12 18:52:50 EDT 1997
HOLA!!!! hay alguien aqui?????

[111] Val! Sun Oct 12 18:53:32 EDT 1997

[112] Val! Sun Oct 12 18:54:02 EDT 1997
Whaddup dude???

[113] cataclyzm Sun Oct 12 18:54:19 EDT 1997

[115] Val! Sun Oct 12 18:55:10 EDT 1997
..fuckin A. youre here. Hey man I'm at work right now. Does that suck (except for free internet)

[116] Val! Sun Oct 12 18:55:58 EDT 1997
...how goes the DJ scene?

[117] cataclyzm Sun Oct 12 18:57:11 EDT 1997
I'm excited! I hooked up with a Soprano sax player, who goes by the name "K-Swift", and he's gonna start accompanying me when I DJ!!!! I'm hoping we can pretty much incorporate all styles of jazz and beyond into our performances, from the free jazz of Charles Gayle, to the more modern styles of Herbie hancock.

[118] cataclyzm Sun Oct 12 18:58:00 EDT 1997
116 - also check the Stream for a short itinerary of upcoming gigs.

[119] Val! Sun Oct 12 18:58:42 EDT 1997
...oh shit that sounds good. i play sax, and trumpet, and trombone... it's a great fuckin idea i think. jazz is all that.
