Back when I was in middle school, our
    more "forward-thinking" teachers would
     often give us exercises that were supposed
      to develop some part or other of our
       fledgling intellects.

        One of the oddest was a little game that
         many people of my generation are all too
        familiar with -- "Clustering." It sounds
       like some sort of insect behavior, I
      know. The way it went was this: the
     teacher, usually my horribly overweight
    yet loveable English teacher (who ate
     bags of mallomars and drank powdered tea)
      would tell us to write something on a
       piece of paper, and enclose it in a circle.
